The movies is more based on ideas than on characters. This is so to speak "whats wrong with America" type of movie. Two students leave college to fight in Afghanistan. Soon after their arrival there they are wounded behind enemy lines triggering a series of events at home. The movie is full of great points and interesting dialogues. The actors are great as well, even Tom Cruise is excellent as the rising political star in Washington. All in all a strong recommendation to watch lions for lambs.

The Last Samurai (2003)

Captain Nathan Algren is a veteran from the American Civil War and the Indian Wars. He is approached by his former colleague Zebulon Grant who takes him to meet Algren's former Colonel Bagley (Tony Goldwyn), whom Algren despises for ordering the massacre. He is offered to train Japanese conscripts to suppress a samurai rebellion. Despite his emotional and moral conflict, he accepts the job for money.
