List of war movies directed or produced by Steven Spielberg

Steven Spielberg is known as one of the greatest movie directors of all time. His contribution to the world’s cinematography is well-known and recognized by every fan and movie critic in the world.

Even though that Spielberg has contributed to the affirmation of every movie genre there is, his impact on the war movies genre is like no other live director/producer. Aside Band of Brothers and The Pacific which are made for TV he produced or directed 5 feature war movies. Throughout this movies it can be easily seen the influence that he made on the genre, Each of them are highly regarded by the critics and the audience. They might not all be masterpieces, but they all share his high standards. Here is the list of those movies:

This is a classic Steven Spielberg masterpiece from 1987. The movie has it all; great story, great acting, world class director. This is one of those must watch before you die movies. Christian Bale even as a teenage actor give us a preview of what will become of him - one of the greatest live actors today.

What to be said more about this movie than that it change film-making forever, at least when it comes to making war movies. Is this the greatest war movies ever made? Hard to tell, but it surely is one of them. No western director has ever come even close to what Spielberg did with this movie - to show the real face of the terror in war while portraying the lives of a small group of soldiers.

The battle of Iwo Jima told by the Japanese side. If you have seen flags of our fathers you need to see letters from Iwo Jima as well, that is if you want to see the complete picture. Clint Eastwood gathered some of the best Japanese actors and made an incredible war movie.

Clint Eastwood is responsible for plenty of war movies, in some he appears as an actor, in some as a producer and in some such as this one as a director. The movie has plenty of mass combat scenes, plenty of emotions and great story in the middle. Eastwood directed this movie while Spielberg produced it, a truly winning combination.

War Horse (2011)
One of the best pictures of the year. This is not just a story of a boy and his horse during the world war one. This is a much deeper story that speaks about that era, the people that lived then, their lives and the war that followed.
