Ensign Pulver (1964)

The story is again set around the USS Reluctant and its crew, especially young Ensign Pulver who has an ambition to become a doctor as his hero, the ship's physician. At the end of WWII, as the ship drops off cargo to various Pacific islands, it is hit by a terrible storm and the ruthless captain is knocked overboard. Pulver jumps to his rescue and the both end up stranded on an island where thing get worse as Pulver has to operate on Captain Morton in order to remove his appendix, while getting instructions from Doc over a radio.
