The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957)

After long "persuasion", British Colonel Nicholson agrees he and his men, held in a Japanese PoW camp in 1943 Burma, to participate in the construction of a railroad bridge over the river Kwai that would be used for transportation of Japanese munition. In an attempt to provide his men some purpose in time of ordeal, Nicholson becomes obsessed with the construction of the bridge. Little do they know that the Allies plan to destroy the bridge.
