While on his way to see his future bride, Doña Jimena, Don Rodrigo gets involved in a battle against a Moorish army. After the battle, Rodrigo releases two captured Emirs, for which he is accused for treason against the King by Jimena's father. Refusing to take back the challenge, he is killed by Rodrigo in a duel. Soon Rodrigo finds himself fighting two battles - one on the battlefield and one political.
