The story follows the lives of a group of soldiers sent to the Eastern front during the world war 2. There they take part in the Stalingrad campaign. According to many critics this is one and if not the best war movie about the battle of Stalingrad. The movie is produced by the same producers that made Das Boot and by many is considered as one of the best world war 2 movies ever made, head to head with movies such as Come and See (1985) and Cross of Iron.
