Worst War Movies in 2012

worst military films 2012

When it comes to war movies 2012 was not the best year for the genre. It`s not an understatement to say that the war movies genre has suffered in terms of bad or under average releases.

Most of the war movies that were shown in 2012 cannot be even considered in the category “this will have to do”. Here are some of the movies that are used as arguments by book readers that reading a book is better than watching a movie. The movies on this list were considered as failings both by the viewers and the critics. The criteria for the movies below to be on this list are their ratings on movie web sites such as IMDB.com, Rottentomatoes.com, Metacritic.com and the reviews written by some of the most acclaimed movie critics in the world.

fortress 2012 movies

Fortress 2012

This is a world war 2 movie about the crew of B-17 Bombers aka “the flying fortress”. It is a low budget production with second rated actors and special effects that won`t impress even a nine-years old. The storyline is as pale as everything else in this movie.

Director: Mike Phillips
Writer: Adam Klein
Stars: Bug Hall, Donnie Jeffcoat, Sean McGowan

Act Of Valor 2012

To be perfectly honest this is not a war movie, but more of a recruiting poster. The characters are underdeveloped, the bad guys look like they belong more to an Austin Powers movie and has a boring storyline. It`s like the Call of Duty Modern Warfare game but with worse writing and acting.

Directors: Mike McCoy, Scott Waugh
Writer: Kurt Johnstad
Stars: Alex Veadov, Nestor Serrano
Red Dawn 2012

Red Dawn 2012

The thing that most of remakes of classic movies simply suck is a well-known fact. Red Dawn 2012 who by the way is a remake of the classic “Red Dawn 1984” is not an exception to the rule, even though there are a few. It is one of the worst war movies in 2012. First of all the critics were having a field day when they wrote their reviews. “Preposterously insincere”,  “uncharismatic cast”, “Unfortunately unexciting remake”, “an insult to an audience” ….. these are some of the phrases that they used in their reviews. Some of the users were not so kind to the movie so we won`t quote any, that`s because they used words that are really not appropriate for this list.

Director: Dan Bradley
Writers: Carl Ellsworth and Jeremy Passmore
Stars: Chris Hemsworth, Isabel Lucas, Josh Hutcherson

Battleship 2012

If one is watching movies for the special effects and not the story or  the acting this is the perfect movie to watch. Probably the only people that applauded to this movie are the people that are related to the special effects industry. The rest of the people either went asleep or runaway in the first 15 minutes. Even Liam Neeson who did his part well enough couldn`t save the movie to sink at low as it did.

Director: Peter Berg
Writers: Jon Hoeber, Erich Hoeber
Stars: Alexander SkarsgÄrd, Brooklyn Decker, Liam Neeson, Rihanna

Not familiar with "Fortress", but certainly agree with "Battleship" and "Red Dawn". Disagree on "Act of Valor". What you say about it being a recruiting poster is true, but the action is great and the acting is not that bad considering they used some non-professionals.

Just because the movie (Act of valor) has few really good action scenes it does not mean that it is a good movie, at least not if you ask me. The movie has a poorly written script with not one memorable line supported by the poor performance of the actors (the fact that some of them are amateurs doesn't mean to me a lot).

Okay. I respect your opinion.
