Farmer Benjamin Martin is a veteran and a hero of the French-Indian War who wants to put his past behind and live a peaceful life on his plantation in South Carolina. But when War of Independence start, his two eldest sons enlist in the newly formed Continental Army. Benjamin has no intention of involving himself in a war against the most powerful army in the world, but when his oldest son Gabriel is killed by the British and his plantation burned to the ground, he finds himself torn between protecting the rest of his family, seeking revenge and fighting for the birth of a new nation.
