During Napoleonic Wars, British Captain Jack Aubrey takes his ship, the HMS Surprise, and its crew to the Pacific in a mission to intercept attacking French ships. The Surprise engages in an endless cat-and-mouse chase with the renegade French super-frigate, the Acheron, while also struggling with the unknown and treacherous waters of the Pacific.
